Through the eyes of the Government of Canada, a self-employed person means a foreign national who has relevant experience and has the intention and ability to be self-employed in Canada and to make a significant contribution to specified economic activities.

Eligibility requirements:

Show relevant experience ( intention and the ability to become self-employed in Canada)

The applicant must show minimum two 1-year periods of full-time relevant experience within the past 5 years

Demonstrate intention and ability of being self-employed in Canada through business plan, finances and visits
-
Score a minimum on the point system which evaluates language proficiency level, work experience, age, education and adaptability points
